We are focusing on four states where abortion laws have changed significantly or where major legal battles are underway. These states provide important examples of how public policy can affect parental rights, informed consent, protections for minors, abortion reporting, and safeguards for women and unborn children. Our goal is to help parents and the public understand not just what the law says, but how those laws affect families in everyday life.
The States
1.
Idaho
Idaho currently protects unborn children throughout pregnancy except in limited circumstances, but a proposed 2026 ballot initiative could dramatically expand abortion access and overturn many of the state’s post-Dobbs protections. Learn what the initiative would change and why Idaho has become a major battleground in the abortion debate.
2.
Minnesota
Minnesota has become one of the most permissive abortion states in the nation after lawmakers repealed parental notification, informed consent protections, and other longstanding safeguards. Explore how Minnesota’s abortion laws changed and what those changes mean for women, girls, parents, and unborn children.

3.
Missouri
Missouri voters approved Amendment 3 in 2024, creating a constitutional right to abortion and reproductive freedom. In 2026, voters will decide whether to keep that framework or restore many of the protections that existed before Amendment 3 was adopted.

4.
Virginia
Virginia is a major abortion battleground in the South. With a proposed constitutional amendment under consideration, voters face important questions about parental rights, informed consent, abortion regulation, and the future of abortion policy in the Commonwealth.
